UX Writing and Effective Website Content
by Hanna Roberts-Williams @ webFEAT Complete
Fri Sep 22 15:47:41 PDT 2017
Conversion reigns as the supreme ROI of SEO. It’s the biggest goal we have as content strategists and SEO gurus: present relevant content to a collection of users, who are looking for a specific answer, and convince them that they’ve found the product or service that will solve their problem. See the problem. Show the solution. Make the sale. Converting internet users from mere audience members to your potential customers is difficult to say the least. Not only are there multiple websites and companies targeting your users, but there’s also a time limit. Attention fades. And quickly. Because of this, your content must do more than just look pretty. It must inform. It must engage. It must strike a balance between the two authorities of content: who is speaking and who is reading. With the short amount of time we, as writers, have to maintain a complete connection with our audience, we can’t afford to waste a moment on information that misrepresents our intent. Creating a profitable website is all about the way you frame your content. And the best way to frame your content is by reassessing its effectiveness from a UX (user experience) perspective. So let’s get started. […]

Why Your Website Isn’t Showing Up On Google
by Ray Cheselka @ webFEAT Complete
Thu Aug 03 12:16:01 PDT 2017
At webFEAT, we get this question all the time: “Why isn’t my business showing up on Google?” or “I used to rank on page 1, and now I’m nowhere to be found. Why did my rankings drop off?” Whether you’re a new or existing business, the first page for searches relevant to your business or specifically for your brand is of the utmost importance. If you’re a new business trying to generate exposure and you succeed, that will not matter if folks can’t find you online. Let’s say a person hears about your business or sees an ad and then goes online to search for your brand name. If your brand’s website and perhaps a business listing don’t appear, you will likely lose a prospective customer. If you provide a service and someone searches “(service) Cincinnati” or something more specific, and you don’t come up, the ones appearing (your competitors) will get the business. Your website’s appearance in Google and other search engines depends on various factors. For branded search, it’s not too difficult to get you indexed and appearing, but for specific, non-branded product/service searches that are more competitive, it takes some real SEO effort. In this post we’ll […]

Yoast’s Readability Score + Focus Keyword Factors: How Much Should You Pay Attention to Them?
by Ray Cheselka @ webFEAT Complete
Tue Jul 25 13:02:43 PDT 2017
If you’re new to Yoast’s SEO plugin within WordPress, you may be wondering, “Do the Yoast readability and focus keyword scores make a difference in the success of my page?” Well, there are a couple of ways you can look at that question. If you mean, “do they have a direct impact on my rankings,” the answer is no. If you mean, “do they use best practices as guidelines that, when followed, can improve your rankings,” the answer is yes. As an SEO, it’s easy to get in the habit of following these guidelines without giving them much thought, but if you’re a business owner or marketing manager who is unfamiliar with most SEO practices, you may have to do some research. Fortunately, all of the research you need to do is in this blog post! Disclaimer: just because you follow the Yoast Readability and Focus Keyword guidelines on all pages/posts of your website does not mean that you will rank well. There are many, many other factors influencing rankings that someone who isn’t an SEO might not be aware of. However, by following their guidelines, you’ll probably have an advantage over a few competitors who aren’t doing any SEO […]
